The airport has a WAAS approach with visibility minima down to ¾ of a mile. The airport is designed for aircraft larger than utility category. Determine if the following objects surveyed around the airport constitute obstacles to navigation using FAR Part 77 regulations. State the critical surface in question. 1) A 152-foot antenna located 6,200 feet from the runway end and offset 300 feet to the right hand side of the runway centerline extension. The antenna is an obstruction. At 6,000 feet from primary surface the approach surface can be 176.5 feet tall (6000/34): OK. But the horizontal surface dominates at 150 feet. So the antenna violates the horizontal surface. 2) A 78-foot tree located 800 feet perpendicular to the runway centerline.
