I strongly feel that Casey’s femur should be immobilized before transporting him to the hospital. It is important to immobilize the injured area because if can help reduce pain, swelling and muscle spasms. It also restricts motion to allow the injured area to heal. According to the Mayo Clinic, osteomyelitis is an infection in a bone. Infections can reach a bone by traveling through the bloodstream or spreading from nearby tissue.
