Group 17 Expectancy Theory Paper 03/27/2011 I. Individuals have needs that result in their motivation to obtain these needs. Output in the workplace represents various factors that account for an individual’s drive and direction. The sociological and physiological reality of equity and motivation asked managers, “What is the best way to motivate employees to enable maximum output.” Equity studies have to do with what employees perceive they are getting out of a situation. How hard you are working versus other employees and what outcomes/benefits you receive. The trouble in management is when your employees think that they are being treated unfairly, which is where you receive a good manager standing with them. To treat them equally you have to give out the same amount of work and equal reward for the work people are doing. Goal setting in relation to motivation is key. It is always a positive to have goals and aspirations. One who does not encompass these is working toward nothing or has no to motivation to succeed. Goals can give foresight on future outputs and overall workplace
