Social discourse to construct boundaries around masculinity and enforce those boundaries around each other. Went to a high school, spent a year, observation Also looked at young women, and masculinity take on women. Young women doesn’t have parallel discourse. Many but are language of ‘bitch, slut’(femininity but not failed), but don’t do the same thing that the language of the fag does (failed masculinity, acting feminine) Basketball girls with masculinity , which is seen as a jock, but guy who dresses like a girl is hated on. Femininity is more of a flexible category than masculinity Argument shes making – fag discourse is repudiation of others, bottom category in a way that discourse that femininity can’t do the same thing.
