The disabled community begins to grow and politicized unacceptable to criminalize disabled American Disability Act of 1990 How can one dismantle the myth of the underclass? -contemporary social structural discrimination -historical discrimination William Julius Wilson: -talking about the inner cities, underclass lived for decades. Historic discrimination created an impoverished urban black community. And several factors combine to keep it that way Three major factors explaining the state of the urban black poor: 1. historical migration accompanied by segregation by law (de jure segregation) – AA began to migrate from south to the north in the 1940- 50s worked . migration of agricultural south to industrial cities of the north. But then the middle class went to the suburbs when they came. In fact segregation because no one going to sell poor class a house in suburbs residential segregation -what kind of people migrate? – young people
