Electrical, Computer, & Telecommunications Engineering Technology MicroComputers 20073 0618-303 Lab #8 USART and Interrupts OBJECTIVE: The educational objective of this lab is to utilize the USART on the mega128.2 board for full duplex communication with a PC hyperterminal via a serial connection. External interrupt initialization and operation will also be explored. PRELAB: Write a program that will: o Send a prompt (of your choosing) to the dumb terminal. Ex: HELLO WORLD > o Echo typed characters to the dumb terminal. When a character is typed on the keyboard, it will not automatically appear on the dumb terminal. It will be transmitted by the dumb terminal and received by the ATmega128. The character will not appear on the PC screen until the ATmega128 transmits it back across the serial link o Receive up to 16 displayable characters, store them in RAM and display them on the LCD screen when a return (hex code = 0x0D) is received.
