NAFTA Decision Making Matrix Add more rows if necessary. Submit this page as “ your name_ NAFTA.doc Name:Yingyi Li 309502201      Jamaica Date:Apr. 1s, 07 Advantages   (+) Value +1 to +3 Disadvantages  (-) Value -1 to -3 1. NAFTA bought Canada  closer to the U.S., which made us  the #1 trading partner with the U.S.  (in the other words, U.S. brought us  more opportunities); since many  people in the world are interested in  the American market, they can use  this advantage to start a business  at a lower cost in Canada to export  their products to the U.S. at a much  lower cost (no tariffs, easier  transportation, etc.) +3 1. Competitions with Mexico  and American agricultural  industries are becoming  increasingly severe, especially  because of nicer climate and  cheaper labour cost; for  example, soft wood lumber  dispute and the corn dispute. -1 2. NAFTA also brought a lot of  U.S. investment to Canada; NAFTA  is especially important to high tech  American companies because  Canada has a lower labour cost but  the quality of products produced  here are some of the best in the  world. +2 2. Some of the strategic  Canadian industries are  controlled by the American now,  for example, car industries, oil  (partially), and other high tech  industries and manufacturing  industries. -3
