KICA                                                       Franz Li 4. Analysis Analysis why music is an element of society by investigating the orient and  western. The great philosopher Plato once said “If you want to measure the spiritual  depth of society, make sure to mark it is music”.  Music, since it was born in the primitive communes, it has an influence and  effecting on the community and people; from the beginning of the era of its  birth, people realized that music has an invisible mental strength and power  impact and impress the whole society at all times. Orient wisdom believes it has the power to express, convey strong emotions,  affects individuals and societies. Back to the pre-Qin period in China, the most  famous philosopher, Confucius asserts:” Transforms social traditions, there is  nothing better than music”, which means if you want to do some change or  make an innovation on the society to start with music is a good way. Another  philosopher Mencius also remarked that” music is more specific about what it  expresses than words written about those expressions could ever be.” as  early as in the past several thousand years, people had already realized the  essence of music, it can sum up with “role of society, impact on people, the  guidance of the social vogue and play an important role of moral and ethic.”

Western civilization had also discovered it. Around the 5th century BC,  ancient Greek philosophers were also observed and taken note of the role of  music; they understood music as "purification". By the explanation of  philosopher, this "purification" means “purify society”, use music to educate
