Compare Essay, my topic is compare the two major characters. “The Giver”, which won the John Newbery Medal, was written by Lois Lowry. “One day in the life of Ivan  Denisovich” was written by a Nobel Prize laureate, Alexander Solzhenitsyn. The two books have many  discrepancies. The first novel “The Giver” takes place in a community that is not normal. The main  character, Jonas, lives in a society free of war, famine and pain, and everything is under control. The  second novel “One day in the life of Ivan Densovich” demonstrates the life and hardships of a middle- aged man named Ivan Denisovich in a Soviet prison camp in Siberia. The themes revolve around both  protagonists, Jonas and Shukhov, whom each set the overall tone of the novels. The two characters  have three points of difference: They have different attitudes towards fate, and different faiths of life, the  importance of emotions for them are not same.
