In the story “A streetcar named Desire”, Blanche considers as a fallen woman who always wants to pretend to be high class, pretend to be young and pretend to be pure. She pretends she is an innocent girl with high status in order to make herself appear attractive to new male suitors. However in reality, she is a liar, she is just an aging Southern belle who lives in a state of perpetual panic about her fading beauty. She has no money, just passes 30 years old and a she is a prostitute. In this essay, I will discuss that how the phrase “the Queen of Denial” as it relates to Blanche, She portrays herself as a “pure” woman and she always says she is Stella’s younger sister but the truth is exactly opposite. As the play goes on, it becomes more obvious and more irony to watch her act as a “pure” woman. She says she wants to marry Mitch.
