1. Nick thought that the truth of George Wilson and Myrtle Wilson’s death will reveal. Michalelis didn’t know that Myrtle had affair with tom. However, Myrtle’s sister, Catherine, lies to the court saying that Myrtle is satisfied with Wilson. Catherine could have said that Tom told George that Gatsby was the person who is having affair with Myrtle, so tom is the actual murderer. Instead she swore that her sister had never seen Gatsby, that her sister was completely happy with her husband that her sister had never been into any mischief whatever. This quote is said by Nick at beginning of Chapter 9. This also reveals that the society described in this novel is pitiless, just as its people. 2. After Gatsby dies, Nick receives a phone call from the former pianist of Gatsby, Klipspringer. Nick invites Klipspringer to come to Gatsby’s funeral. However, not asking for the funeral, but for Nick to send him back his tennis shoes, Klipspringer shows that he doesn't want to come. The characters involved are Nick and Klipspringer. The theme of the passage is “loyalty” and it’s important to the novel because Gatsby let Klipspringer live in his house when Klipspringer didn't even have a job. Klipspringer should at least be thankful to Gatsby
