Zeros within a number are signi f cant. BUT zeros at the end of a number are not (401 = 3; 410 = 2) 2. Trailing numbers that follow a decimal point are signi f cant - including zeros (4.00 = 3) 3. Zeros at the beginning of a number are not signi f cant (0.012 = 2) 4. Conversion factors are not measurements – and can have an in f nite number of signi f cant f gs 5. Calculations – always express answer in least number of signi f cant f gs 6. Rounding – if last number is 5-9 round up, if 0-4 round down
