Reading Response #3: Chapter 2 Don Hector Rocha y Villareal, a wealthy Mexican aristocrat is the owner of the miracle ranch that John Grady and Rawlins are staying at. Grady uses his horseback riding skills to prove himself worthy and impresses the aristocrat. With the help of Rawlin, Grady was able to break a group of sixteen horses within three days. This short period of achievement gets Grady to win the favor of Armando, Antonio's brother and the foreman of the ranch. Don Hector calls in Grady and Grady is given a promotion. This promotion allows Grady to have an official room and he gets to see Don Hector's beautiful daughter, Alejandra. Don Hector assigns John a job to help him breed the stallion that Don just bought. Then one Sunday, John and Rawlins go to La Vega to buy new clothing. Later that day, they decide to go to a dance at a local country house.
