Topics include management, accounting, economics, marketing, international business, starting and running a small business, and business ethics. Required Materials: Textbook : Selected Materials from Understanding Business, Ninth Edition , Nickels, McHugh & McHugh, McGraw-Hill. (a custom text) ISBN 978-0-07-759791-7 Alternate Textbook : Understanding Business, Ninth Edition , Nickels, McHugh & McHugh, McGraw-Hill. ISBN 978-0-07-351170-2 Test supplies: Five 8 ½” x 11” ParSCORE Score Sheets (for the in-class exams) and a #2 (soft lead) pencil. ParSCORE score sheets are available for sale at the cash registers of the De Anza College bookstore. Course Requirements: Attendance: Attendance will be called every day at the beginning of class. If you are late to class, please come see me at the ten minute break or at the end of class and let me know you were there. Otherwise, I will believe you were absent. If you appear to have been absent more than 3 days in a row prior to March 2 nd , and I have not heard from you by email or voicemail requesting to remain in the class despite your extended absence within that time, I will drop you with a W! Therefore, if you have been absent more than 2 days in a row and you want to stay in the class , you are STRONGLY advised to send me an email or leave me a voicemail immediately requesting not to be dropped! Special warning about failing to drop the class on a timely basis: If you do not want to continue in the class, be sure to drop the class by March 2 nd , otherwise you will be stuck in the class! State law forbids me from dropping you after March 2 nd for any reason! Your only option after that date is to request an incomplete grade. But you will only qualify for an incomplete grade if you can prove an unforeseen, unavoidable circumstance that makes it impossible for you to finish the class, such as being called up for active duty by
