The Group operates 156 production centers, primarily in Switzerland, but also in France, Germany, Italy, Thailand, Malaysia and China. Active in the manufacture of finished watches, jewelry, and watch movements and components, the Group produces nearly all of the components necessary to supply its eighteen watch brand companies and the entire Swiss watch making industry, and operates its own worldwide network of distribution organizations. The Swatch Group is also a key player in the electronic systems sector. The Group employs more than 20,000 persons in over 50 countries. Gross sales in 2009 were 5.421 billion Swiss francs with operating profit of 903 billion or 17.6% of net sales. History In 1945 Swiss watchmakers accounted for 80% of the world market.
