Course Objectives ACC241 is an introductory management accounting course that is designed to equip students to make effective and efficient use of accounting information in managerial decision making. It is a survey of many topics, including an introduction to cost behavior, budgeting, responsibility accounting, cost control and product costing. Emphasis is placed on management accounting in a broad context, relating it to other subject areas. This course provides students with the necessary understanding of fundamental concepts and tools, while also emphasizing the analysis and interpretation of information. Required Textbook and Other Materials Managerial Accounting By Braun, Tietz and Harrison (2 nd edition) (and MyAccountingLab software code) If you took ACC231 in the Spring 2011 and purchased an access code at that time, you will not need to purchase a new access code. See the blackboard site for registration instructions . Bookstore Purchase Option: The text is a custom published, 3-hole punch version of the textbook that excludes chapters we do not use. This textbook is also packaged with MyAccountingLab software code (used for online homework) and free access to the e-book if bought at the bookstore. Since the textbook is sold with a software code, the bookstore will NOT buy it back unless it is unopened. The 3-hole punch version of the textbook that excludes the access code is also available for purchase from the publisher.
