Sony: To Spend Y40B To Boost Lithium Ion Battery Output 150 words 4 August 2008 02:22 Dow Jones International News DJI English (c) 2008 Dow Jones & Company, Inc. TOKYO (Dow Jones)--Sony Corp. (6578.TO) said Monday it will invest close to $400 million to boost production in Japan of lithium ion batteries used in small consumer electronic goods. In a statement, Sony, home of the PlayStation video game and Walkman musical players, said that the Y40 billion investment is part of drive to nearly double monthly output of the cells within two years. The batteres are used in devices such as mobile phones, laptop computers and digital cameras.
