INTERVIEW: Gujarat NRE To Invest $250M In Australian Mines By Prince Mathews Thomas Of DOW JONES NEWSWIRES 437 words 3 April 2008 02:42 Dow Jones International News DJI English MUMBAI (Dow Jones)--India's largest metallurgical coke producer Gujarat NRE Coke Ltd. (512579.BY) plans to invest $250 million in its Australian coking coal mines to increase annual capacity to 6.5 million metric tons by 2012, Managing Director Arun Kumar Jagatramka said. "Of this, we will invest about $200 million in the NRE No. 1 Colliery coking coal mine in New South Wales. It will have a capacity of 4.5 million tons by 2012," Jagatramka told Dow Jones Newswires late Wednesday. The mine is operated by the company's listed Australian unit India NRE Minerals Ltd. (GNM.AU) and currently has an annual capacity of 800,000 tons. Gujarat NRE will invest $50 million in the second coking coal mine named NRE Wongawilli, which is owned by Gujarat NRE Resources Ltd., another Australian unit of the company.
