it was probably written in the 1 st -2 nd  century C.E., later than the major parts of The Mahabharata it was written in 700 Sanskrit verses, 18 chapters after the return of the five brothers from exile and a gathering of their forces, they meet  Duryodhana on the battlefield they have no choice, as Duryodhana is determined to kill them – they must  fight the book contains dialogue between Prince Arjuna and his friend and charioteer Krishna, an  earthly incarnation of the god Vishnu
