BRIGHAM YOUNG UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF TECHNOLOGY CM 455 – Course Syllabus Sustainable Design and BIM Kevin Burr, Professor 230 Snell Building (801)422-2023, [email protected] TA – Brandon Stocks TA – Rhen Brown Text: Sustainable Construction: Green Building Design and Delivery - Kibert Department Mission: The mission of the BYU Construction Management Program is to provide students with a broad understanding of construction technology, business, architecture, and engineering, with specific emphasis on the management of construction projects. Courses within the program are designed to prepare graduates to excel in leadership positions, with a focus on building quality projects, safety, on time, on budget and to consumer expectations. Students are taught and encouraged to maintain integrity and high moral standards in all aspects of their lives. Course Description: Recent demand for more efficient construction practices has led the construction industry to embrace Sustainable Design and Building Information Modeling Technology. To effectively supply the construction industry with qualified graduates, the BYU Construction Management Department has created curriculum that addresses these trends. Course Academic Outcomes: 1. Students will learn to define sustainable building with a variety of national and international rating systems with a focus on the USGBC’s LEED rating system. 2. Students will be able to identify and understand sustainable building principles applicable to a wide range and types of building construction. 3.
