History 2112: America since 1890 Fall 2009 Mr. Charles Lamont Hight Phone: 678-642-0880 chight2@kennesaw.edu Office hours- 5:30pm-6:30p.m or with appointment History 2112: M/W The purpose of this course is to teach students some of the main themes and events of the last century in American History. There are two required books for the course: The American Promise, A History of the United States vol.2 4 th ed. and Reading the American Past , vol.2 4 th ed., Johnson. Grades for the course are based on three tests, discussions, and homework questions over documents readings and Quizzes. Test : There will be three tests. The first covers lectures and reading (documents and textbook) to that point in the course; the second, the same material since the first test. Students will need to bring a blank bluebook to each test. Each test is worth 100 points. Make-ups will be given only in special extenuating circumstances with my permission. Final Exam : The final examination is worth 100 points and will have heavy emphasis on the material presented on the second test. It may also include comparative analysis questions involving entire semester of material. Grades
