Unformatted text preview: Chemical Pathology Lecture Notes 2011 University of Cape Town Preface This manuscript constitutes a series of lecture notes prepared and updated by members of the Division of Chemical Pathology at UCT. These notes are intended to provide a clear and concise reference of the basic biochemical principles and clinical application of the field of Chemical Pathology/Clinical Biochemistry. These lectures have been developed specifically for undergraduate medical student teaching. Included in lectures 1 -11, 14, 18, 20, 22- 25 and 27 are a series of related questions and answers that can be used as an excellent tool to test knowledge and provide insight into a wide range of clinical problems.
