Unformatted text preview: Andy Ng CIS 4930 Assignment 3 Part B Analysis The data which was collected was well presented. The total number of participants completed the study was twenty. There were 19 males and 1 female. The study design chosen was between subjects. Participants were divided into two separate groups. The first group had nine participants which had to use the existing interface which was located in Southwest Rec Center. The second group had eleven participants which use the new interface which I designed. Before the study, both groups were briefed with a short description of the study and which interface they were going to be using. After the study, participants were asked to evaluate the interface which they were given. The evaluation measures their satisfaction, motivation, and most importantly overall experience toward either the new or the existing interface. My primary metrics for this analysis was mostly based on the questionnaire the participants answered, because there wasnt a method that I can keep track of each participants muscle growth. To begin with, the first question, how easy was it to navigate through the interface?, the group using the new interface felt that it was pretty easy to navigate through the interface. The mean for the new interface was close to seven out of ten; however, the existing interface was just five out of ten. The second question, how difficult was it to navigate through the interface?, the group using the existing interface had a little bit more trouble than those who were using the new interface. The mean for the existing interface was a five out of ten; however, the new interface was just three out of ten making it more efficient. One of the main HCI principles I was following when developing this new interface was striving for consistency. If you browse through the new interface, how the layout of the page is structured, it seems very simple, because not to get novice users confused. Next, the third question, how easy was it to understand the information provided by the system?, participants who were using the new interface understood more the information being conveyed by the system. But for those who were using the existing interface, it was much more difficult for a novice user to understand some of the information that was explained. The mean for the new interface was close to seven out of ten and the existing interface was five out of ten. The fifth question, how easy was it to understand the images displayed under the muscle group?, there was a tremendous variance between the participants using the new interface versus the existing interface. The mean for the new interface was eight out of ten, unlike the existing interface was just four out of ten....
