Response of Mom Ironing and I Stand Here Ironing I Stand Here Ironing is mainly about a mother’s mental activity. She was thinking about her daughter while she was ironing. When her daughter came, there were short conversations. What the picture Mom Ironing presents is a also a mother ironing and her daughter sitting there relaxedly. Two texts are all about an ironing mother and a daughter. The scenes are similar. The differences are that the essay shows more about the mother’s mental images, and she had some conversations with her daughter. However, in the photograph, what we can see is just a messed room and two people without communication. In the essay, the author uses indirect way to build the image of the daughter through the mother’s recalling. It is flashback. At the end, the author

The daughters personality and the origin of this personality, her unpleasant childhood, are also showed. The mother holds a mixed feeling toward her daughter, apology, worry, sympathy, happy and love. The daughter is good person, and she loves her mother and the family, though she has some pessimistic personalities. In the photograph, the mess, which is the background of two people, and the look on the daughters face when her mother was ironing maybe her clothes, can show this is not a harmonious family and the daughter does not care about her mother much....
