1 Music Appreciation October 2007 The Concert of Twelve Girls Band Thursday Oct 18, 2007 8:00 PM, Art Center, performers: Twelve Girls Band (from China) This was a wonderful concert! I saw a Chinese concert in the States! Each of the performers, thirteen Chinese talented girls, played a traditional Chinese musical instrument and made it like a western Symphony Orchestra. The instruments are flute, erhu, yangqin, pipa and guzheng. They used the background accompany, the beats. It was alike the Bond from Britain, who play violins with the background music. When the curtain started to rise, the thirteen girls are like in a picture. They all dressed in yellow costume. They are not just performing playing musical instruments but dancing with the motion of playing them. They moved gently and beautifully. I enjoyed the melody as well as the visual movements. There were several very passionate songs, and the girls’ beautiful yellow loose sleeves fly everywhere like butterflies. They played so fast that the scene became tense.
