Tele-technology includes both software and hardware. They enable remotes diagnoses and evaluations of patients in addition to the ability of remote detection of fluctuations. They are also used as digital information and communication technologies such as computers and mobile devices to access health care services remotely and manage your health care. Telehealth and/or telemedicine is a group of technologies within Health IT that is being used to provide clinical care. Any technology that store, share, or analyze the health information can be referred to as “health information technology” or Health IT.The cost of telehealth coverage for Medicare costs $150 million within the first five years and only spent about $57 million on telehealth services over a total of 14 years. The annual cost to deploy the telehealth program back in 2012 was about $1,600 per patient per year compared to over $13,000 for the traditional home-based care over $77,000 for the nursing homes. Telehealth associated with a 25 percent reduction in the number of bed days cares and a 19 percent reduction in hospital admissions across VHAwho utilize telehealth.
