This week’s accomplishments Collected references on RC aircraft construction Decided on the general approach for model aircraft sizing (use the Boeing wind tunnel test section for wing size as a starting point) Defined the project scheme, minimum end-of-class deliverables and various bonus objectives (objectives that will increase the range of possible experiments). Project Scheme The objective of the proposed lab exercise is to have undergraduate students understand how lift and drag characteristics are affected by parameters from the entire aircraft in addition to just the wing; this will be accomplished by utilizing a scaled model aircraft and the ASL Boeing wind tunnel to simulate ‘in-flight’ conditions.
