Coating Further research was conducted on the right type of coating to use in strengthening the model. This research showed that the monokote coating that the team previously decided to use was not good to use on foam. Therefore econokote was considered. The following are properties of econokote: A lower activation temperature than monokote Econokote is a patented, flexible, high-gloss polyester film that has a tensile strength of 25,000 psi It weighs only 0.2 oz/ft 2 and so it will not increase the weight of the model by much As an added advantage, applying econokote is a fast and easy process allowing the team to focus on other pertinent details that will allow the experiment to be finished in a timely manner 2. Construction of the Mount This week the mount design was created and is nearly complete. It is fully pitchable – too full in fact, stops need to be implemented before use in the wind tunnel – and it...
