The main argument to this paper is that despite the fact that Gabriel is an apathetic person at the beginning of the story; he gradually changes and allows himself to freely express his emotions. I think this thesis is clearly debatable and is present throughout the whole paper. This way of looking at the paper made me rethink the story because I did not see the encounter with Lily and the dinner table speech as evidences to a transformation of Gabriel, but rather further evidence to what he was and still is. I think that your strongest point was the last when you give actual textual evidence such as “generous tears filled his eyes. He had never felt like that himself towards any woman but he knew that such a feeling must be love” The argument with the dinner table scene seemed weakened because you questioned the validity of his intentions. When you give multiple questions such as “Was he putting up an act to make it seem that he can move his audience or is he really making a significant change regarding expressing his
