Heart & Body versus Brain Aristotle’s view:   o Body and heart are the generators of feelings o Mind and body are two separated entities o Feelings or emotion is the middleman for body and mind Hippocrates’ view: o Brain is the centre of behaviour and intellect o Fluids in the brain can determine emotion and behaviour  blood, then moody  yellow, then angry  phlegm, then sluggish  black bile, then melancholic Capilano-Canyon Bridge Experiment Heart palpitations can be misconstrued.  These can be things coming from  the brain. In the experiment: o Male subjects cross flimsy oscillating bridge o While crossing, they encounter a fearful feeling on the bridge  o 2 groups of men were tested first group experience fear   immediately meet an  attractive lady   chit chat   associate fear response as a  arousal response     LOVE   call her the next day second group experience fear   10 minutes pass   meet  an attractive lady   chit chat   associate fear response as  fear     NOT LOVE o after 10 minutes, heart rates go down o Misinterpretation of the arousal response as both fear and  attraction result in similar arousal responses. o It is possible to have confusion between what you have  experienced and whether the feelings and response exhibited have  to do with that particular experience. Bad food eaten earlier during the day  grade reports marks  read   not feeling well   stomach-ache   think it’s  because of bad grades   but in actuality, it may be due to  the bad food

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

I cannot even describe how much Course Hero helped me this summer. It’s truly become something I can always rely on and help me. In the end, I was not only able to survive summer classes, but I was able to thrive thanks to Course Hero.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
