Course: Physics 3343 covers important physics discoveries from the late 1800's to the present. The emphasis is on the Special Theory of Relativity, Statistical Mechanic and Quantum Mechanics and their application to important systems including electronics, nuclear physics, lasers, etc. Physics 3343 students are expected to be well grounded in the principles of Classical Physics. We will study and perform important experiments that demonstrated the limitations of Classical Physics. The course is intended to provide the student with a strong foundation for future course work in engineering and physics as well as improving the student’s general problem solving skills. The course requires extensive use of math skills and physics concepts learned in previous courses. Grading:
