Class 7 El Niño: Event that occurs every 3-5 years patterns, causes, and consequences- The easterlie/trade winds die and the warm water pools on the equator and sloshes back towards western South America. Fishing is very bad during El Niño years. Water is suppost to move east to west along the equator and warm water gets pushed towards Indonesia and cold water rises along South America but this doesn’t occur during El Niño history back thru time- It affects weather worldwide Walker circulation Tucson is wet during El Niño years because the jet stream drops south towards us Pattern of hurricanes in profile and map view- Air in a hurricane is ascending while the eye of the hurricane
