Adam Bottorff 4.27.10 Sociology Summary Social Progress and Social Problems We all try to improve on our problems and issues that we once had in the past. As an individual, working for a team, or as a family, everyone tries to progress and make positive steps towards success. As a whole in America, we have progressed over the past century. In education, health, poverty and work, the United States has made an improvement individually in each area. With examples of improvement of literacy, televisions in houses, and decreased disease problems, it gives the American people to believe that we are improving our social progress in a positive movement. Joel Best, who is the author of “Social Progress and Social Problems”, argues and believes that our progression creates concerns for more social problems in America. With our improvements in society over the last 100 years, we have also created more problems. Joel has a focus on the problems through four separate categories that all link together in
