2 Introduction Hello Miss Bowden. I’ve asked you to meet with me this morning regarding an opportunity that I believe you would be interested in. Because you have expressed an interest in the organization and how it can be improved, I think you are the best person for this project. Our facility is going to be implementing a new informatics system, and due to the recent pandemic, I am not able to be available, and I need someone to stand in my place. You will be the team leader and will choose various individuals in different job occupations within the facility. Choose individuals who would be charting in any way to assist you. You will need to select staff members who will be engaging during the development and test period. They will need to help you with the system alignment according to the functions and interface with healthcare workers' interests and their work practice and be supportive of changes in their clinical work (Nguyen et al., 2017). As the project lead, I will need you to meet with me every other day and give me updates and any concerns the team may have. Of course, you may contact me at any time if you wish. With your permission and interest, we can proceed with a little education, explanations, and instruction. The Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is explained as "a process that produces software through several key stages, to implement quality and efficiency” (Techopedia, 2020, para 2). Not having nurses involved in the purchasing and implementation phase could prove to be a costly error if the system chosen cannot adequately accommodate what is required of nurses charting and physician documentation. Most organizations don't include nurses in the purchase of significant technological decisions, and I feel that they just purchase the best cost scenario for

3 their hospital or medical group. By having you give them some insight of what your job requires, I believe they will then be able to make the best education decision and match it with their budget.
