Adam Bottorff 4/4/11 SHR Gillen Baidu Case We have studied many different companies and corporations this semester that have either done really well and some that had to file for chapter 11. A similarity of the previous companies like K-mart, Apple and Facebook, is that all of these businesses are from the United States. Even though we live in the United States, we do know that business is an international tool. There are many businesses that have done well and succeeded that are not based in America. Baidu, which is a company located out of China is one of the many companies to which has seen success and profit over the years. Baidu, which was launched in January 2000 became the leading search engine in China in little time. After some income, they registered in the NASDAQ Stock Market in 2005. There were a lot of factors that Baidu needed to look into, to have a successful company. One of the main roadblocks was advertising. The way for a search engine to make money is by advertisements on the websites. China was growing rapidly in the advertisement market and it
