Political Parties in Pakistan (KK Aziz) 1/17/12 GMT 107 - Ayesha Saeed - 3 Why do we need political parties? Very simply, they provide an organised medium for the voice of the people to reach the governance apparatus of the country. Genuine national political parties, where politics is conducted on ideology and a democratic practices are ensured within the party, have not existed in Pakistan. Inheritance: All India Muslim League, which was unable to transform itself from a nationalist party to a national party ; internal conflicts and fragmentation saw its demise within the first decade.
