Is Education the Same as Indoctrination? 1. MODEL CASE a) At a young age Jesse was told by his parents that there is no such thing as a god. As the years went by, Jesse could not help but feel that there must be something more to life. How can we just go through the motions, die, and that’s it? It was at that moment that Jesse decided that he needed to belong to a religious group. He went to the nearest church, picked up the Old Testament and read it from beginning to end. Jesse was enthralled by the testament and was taught everything else he needed to know by other followers of the Christian faith. He was then baptized by a priest and for the rest of his days, lived a more meaningful life. b) This is a good example of a model case because; Jesse willingly chose to believe in a religion. He was lost and wanted someone to educate him. He was then educated by other Christians. While Jesse is learning about this particular religion, the fact is that Christianity is a belief. Once
