Andrew Lazarow WRT 205 Proposal For my research question I wish to explore the motivation behind students ranging from elementary school up to college. There are two main types of motivation that I would specifically like to look into, reward versus punishment. The controversy over which type of motivation is more successful is still unanswered and both types of motivation are used every day in classrooms. It will be interesting to research what the type of motivation is reliant on, if it’s reliant on anything. I would like to see if the type of motivation changes with the level of education or if the type of motivation is consistent with an individual. Finding out the answer to this research question could help teachers motivate their students. These motivations that some students are missing are what many people feel is the reason why many students do not succeed. I believe that motivation will change based on the stage of education that a student is at.
