Andrew Lazarow 2/17/10 IST 444 Outline Introduction Statement that most of class has taken part in underage drinking Newly sparked argument o Over 100 college presidents signed a petition to lower the drinking age Lower Taking away citizens rights o At 18 citizens can: Vote Join the army Sit on a jury Underground drinking o Drinking in unsafe ways and in unsafe places Calls for help more likely o People won’t be scared to get in trouble Keep it the same Drinking and driving Downward age trend in initiation to drinking Conclusion Lower the drinking age Set up a system similar to a drivers license
