Psyc 101 4/26/11 What is social psychology? Investigates how individual’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are influenced by others and/or the situation Attitudes, situations, and groups Our behavior depends on the situation and the people we are around (Regardless of our individual personalities) What is an attitude? An attitude is a good or bad evaluation The attitude structure: behavior>cognition/schema>affect Our minds operate in two levels: controlled and automatic Stroop effect Attitude- good or bad evaluation
