Rose Harris Googe “What Will Global Warming Look Like? Scientists Point to Australia” L.A. Times 4/9/2009 http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/world/la-fg-climate-change-australia9- 2009apr09,0,7128426,full.story This article covers the drastic effects of global warming in Australia over the past several years. Everything from the heat wave to the dust storms is blamed on global warming. There are anecdotes of hundreds of flying foxes dropping dead out of trees, steel warping in the heat, species becoming extinct, fires ravaging the country, and agriculture facing severe droughts. With all of this, there are concerns that Australia is the first part of the world to face serious effects of global warming. What we’re seeing here, is expected to become global within the next century. There are quotations from Australians insisting that the country is on its way to becoming “unlivable.” Although Australia’s always been a tough country to live in, it seems to be getting far worse very quickly.
