Anna Whitehouse Mr. Bouser JOMC 153 January 18, 2012 Guest Lecture: David Sinclair David Sinclair has worked in the news industry for 27 years, both in radio and print, and describes himself as “a news man through and through.” Sinclair spoke to Mr. Bouser’s JOMC 153 class on Wednesday about the value of news and his own experiences reporting it. He began his career working for a local radio station, WIOZ, Southern Pines, where he wrote news stories for ten years. Sinclair then made the move to print and began working for The Fayetteville Observer. It was for this publication that he covered the biggest story of his life: the execution of David Junior Brown in November 1999. “I don’t think I’ve ever covered a story of that magnitude,” he told the class. Sinclair personally attended Brown’s execution, finally served 20 years after the double homicide he committed. This was a front-page story.
