110: INTRODUCTION TO PSYCHOLOGY Professor: Wendi Gardner wgardner@northwestern.edu Office Swift 203 : Thursday 2-3 and by appt. TAs offices and hours: on blackboard Text: , 3rd Ed . Course Overview : The purpose of this course is to give an overview of the field of psychology. Class lectures, readings, and laboratory experiences will combine to allow a very general sense of the study of psychology across many areas of inquiry. Ultimately, the goal of this course is to give you a better understanding of some fundamentals of human nature, as well as a deeper appreciation for the science of psychology. WARNING: Exams can be challenging. Seriously. See past CTECs for advice from other students. They require you to understand and apply the information rather than mere memorization. Come to class prepared to be engaged, to ask questions, to actively think about the material as it is being presented. In order to facilitate this, powerpoint slides from the lecture will be available on the course site AFTER each class lecture (sometimes there are demonstrations in class that work best with the element of surprise, so no lecture notes will be posted before class).
