1. Trail of Tears- forced relocation in 1838 of the Cherokee Native American tribe to Indian Territory, resulting in many deaths 2. Indian Reorganization Act-U.S federal legislation which secured certain rights to N.A, restored mainly lands, create foundation for Indian reservations. 3. Red Power- N.A put pressure on the fed. Gov’t to address Indian issues and needs and to reassert Indian rights. 4. Urban Indians- Native Americans that live in the city. 5. Mestizo- Term given to a person of white/European and Indigenous mix. 6. Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo- Mexicans living in what was now American territory were guaranteed the rights of American citizenship if they chose to remain. 7. Chicano/ Chicanismo - A term used to describe Mexican Americans 8. Operation Wetback- stops the flow of illegal Mexican immigrants. 9. Internal colonialism- type of inequalitarian pluralism in which minority ethnic groups are treated in a colonial fashion by the dominant group. 10.
