Morales AP Final Project React Paper My sculpture displays a single sphere yet represents both the sun and the moon. This duality is crucial throughout the year. The sun represents hope, reason, and reality whereas the moon symbolizes fear, obscurity, and illusion. For example, in O’Neill’s Long Day’s Journey Into Night , Mary Tyrone progressively changes as the day goes on. In the morning, she is very cheerful and vivacious. However, because she is still haunted by her past—death of her second son Eugene, morphine addiction, and a desolate lifestyle—when night approaches, she loses her reason and indulges in illusion to escape reality.
