Construction of Women’s Menstrual Health 22:42 What comes to mind when you hear the phrase “Mental Health”? -crazy, happy, mental wellbeing, STRESS,  -usually think of negative stuff -Instead, it is a state of wellbeing,  -indv realizes his or her own abilities -mental health over all areas of society- social integration of the marginalized groups. Q: How do we promote mental health at the individual level? -sleep, exercise, plan for FUN, relax, learn to recognize when you’re stressed, time- management, yoga, social support Q: How do we promote Mental Health? (structural/ societal) -freedom from fear of war, equal opportunity,  meeting basic needs secure work useful role in society political will public support

Brief history of medicalization- “normal behavior”  -dynamic psychiatry- age of Freud.  -pathological and normal fell along some continuum.
