22:46 AUTHORITATIVE KNOWLEDGE: Emergence of dominant accepted beliefs Ex: keeping the baby with the placenta for a little bit longer. All those beliefs were  actually true. Keep the baby intact until it stops pulsating. The kids have better iron  stores, they are healthier, they are in better condition. Especially true for premature  babies- Keep it in for about 7-8 minutes instead of about 1 min. Just wait a little bit  longer- gives kids a boost in life. An example where the authoritative knowledge of  healthcare providers prevailed and actually detracted. The request being made was  actually better, right on target. Why did the healthcare providers not allow the person to have what they wanted?  Because it’s more convenient for the healthcare provider, and because it wasn’t coming  from somebody with creditability.  This is played out a lot, in many different ways. Authoritative knowledge isn’t necessarily right, it’s just more valued, and therefore, we  give it the position of being right.  -labeled things as “old wives tales.” -over time, what counts as knowledge can also change. There will be a certain time  where we value a certain piece of old knowledge, then something disrupts it, and we  pick something else to be our belief.  DES- given to women to reduce the risk of miscarriage and to promote a healthy  pregnancy. Lead to girls that have weird vaginal tumors. Menopause= able to have children to not being able to have children. Idea with it is that
