Reporting Descriptive and Inferential Statistics for Categorical Variables and Quantitative Mental Health Days for BRFSS Dataset: Alabama Results As shown in Table 1, the sample in Alabama was mostly female (80%), over the age of 35 years (83%), and Non-Hispanic White (69%). The participants were spread out over urban (30%), suburban (29%), and rural (41%) areas and most reported having a healthcare plan (81%) and completing a healthcare checkup within the past year (74%). A little over half of the participants reported exercising outside of work (56%), and the majority would be considered overweight or obese (71%), non-smokers (74%), and non-binge drinkers (93%). Also shown in Table 1, days of good mental health differed significantly by exercise [ t (481)=5.58, p< .001], metropolitan status [ F (2,480)=3.65, p= .027], and smoking status [ F (3,479)=3.65, p< .001].
