How to Study Know the Teacher – understand their expectations. Take everything they say seriously – write it down – they might be giving you valuable hints / tips about tests. Look at yourself and past results. If you study for only an hour the night before a test and read the chapter through one time and get a C or worse grade, you know that’s not nearly enough. Know the material the exam will cover. Know how many points you can get or what percentage of your semester grade is based on this exam. Know what kind of questions will be on the exam – matching, multiple choice, essay, true-false, etc. . What can I take in with me – calculator, anything else? Know how much time you’ll have to complete the exam… don’t waste a lot of time on any one question – it’s important you answer them all and have time to go back and double-check your answers. Will some questions be weighted (points) more than others? Study / retake your old tests – make sure you know every answer – look up those things you got wrong on previous tests. Go through chapter reviews, quizzes and homework assignments. Study hard for a test / exam, take it seriously, but don’t cram right up to the last minute – you may not be able to relax and think clearly. Don’t waste time! Get done what has to be done so you can actually relax and have some fun. Schedule
