Geometric Greece Pottery, Chronology & Culture pottery: the plastic of the ancient world characteristics - It goes from very simple pottery to much more elaborate designs after a little while - Technology uses = wheel, compass, glazes - Geometric = is named because of a basic design of pottery - Tendancy to avoid representational art – more common than a horse identification = - you can identify it based on the type of clay used , the way it was manufactured, you can tell because of the fabric ect - inscriptions from the pottery stratigraphy- the study of layers of rocks and strata and layering (stratifications ) - the layers make it difficult to understand all of Greece - the buildings would break down, be destroyed or burned down and than they would have to be replaced so they would build right over it - this makes it more difficult for the archeologists to understand all about previous society because the remains are
